EeePC 900 is the name given to the version of Eee 900 series that uses Linux as the operating system. This version basically has 16 GB SSD but there are few models of this version that has 4GB SSD in them which are like the 70x series. The Windows XP based versions are called EeePC 900 Win, these versions are further divided into two types of models with only difference of storage capacity; one has the total 12GB of space into two SSD (4GB and 8GB) and the other has only a single SSD of 16GB. In terms of prices, the Linux based 20GB (EeePC 900) version has the same cost as the 12G EeePC 900 Win (Windows XP based). Whereas the 16GB is concerned, the Linux EeePC is lower in cost than the Windows XP EeePC.

The EeePC 900 Win includes Windows Live Suite and also Microsoft Works, both are already installed. StarSuite 8 software is also included in the EeePC 900 Win. On Junes 3, 2008 Asus released its latest new series Eee 1000 at COMPUTEX Taipei. The system has a 10 inches (254mm) long screen and is powered by the 1.6 Giga Hertz Intel Atom processor and not only that the system also has a power management application that increases the processing speed up to 1.7Ghz. Eee 1000 series comes in two types of versions one is 1000 model and other is 1000H model. The 1000 model has the Linux Operating System with a storage capacity of total 40GB (8GB SSD and 32GB SSD), the other model 1000H has the operating system Windows XP and this model comes with a storage of 80 to 160GB SATA HardDisk Drive. 1000 and 1000H, both systems can support maximum RAM of 2GB DDR2 (667MHz). The keyboards provided in these systems have 92% the size as the generic notebooks, so the typing experience of the user becomes more comfortable. Same as with Eee PC 901, these systems also include the Bluetooth and also Wi-Fi (802.11n), unfortunately WiMAX doesn’t work in it.

Another version that was launched on September, 2008 i.e. 1000HD, this version is a little cheaper than the 1000 series. The reason behind that is 1000HD’s configuration is same as 1000H but only the processing speed is slow that is 900Mhz Celeron. In October a version 1000HA was launched which has the price lower than the 1000H series. 1000HA also has the same configuration like the 1000H only with slight differences like it has 160GB of storage whereas the 1000H has 80GB and also 1000H has Bluetooth feature but the 1000HA doesn’t have any Bluetooth.

Asus eee 4g revealed its new 1000HE in February 2009 with the new features like the 10” LED-lit display, 160GB Hard Disk Drive powered by Intel Atom 280 chip, Wi-Fi (802.11n), 6-cell battery and a Bluetooth. It was claimed by the Asus that the system could continuously run for 9.5 hours.
